Consumer Product Turnaround

Situation

An innovative consumer beverage products company based in the Midwest created several delicious, carbonated, sugar-free (and non-alcoholic) fruit drinks with all ingredients sourced from local farms and orchards. Sales grew rapidly for several years through word of mouth, social media, favorable press, and small regional distributors.

Problem

The company overestimated demand, experienced unexpected production and packaging issues (leaking cans, incorrect “best by” date, etc.), lost their top salesperson, and ended up in a  severe cash crunch with a large volume of aging product sitting in warehouses.

Solution

The founder hired Ground Floor Partners to initiate a turnaround. Our team assessed the company’s operations and finances, analyzed the market and helped the founder develop a guerrilla production, marketing and distribution strategy, and prepared a multi-phased business plan and detailed financial projections and an attractive pitch deck for potential investors.

Benefits

With Ground Floor Partners, the company founder raised significant capital from previous and new investors, forged alliances with new production and distribution partners, deployed some inventory in promotions to attract additional anchor accounts, disposed of the rest of the old inventory, and restarted production runs with their most popular favors.

In just six months, we helped the company founder improve production and distribution processes, gather and organize key documents, renegotiate contracts with previous partners, institute sound business practices, and prepare to market and sell new product.
