Client held a strong market share position in the U.S. but the market was forecast to remain stagnant for several years. International growth outlook seemed to offer promise, but there was a lack of focus and direction to determine the most effective approach and target markets. In addition, the client was resource-constrained.


Internal discussions defined parameters for market opportunity, and selected countries were screened for upside potential and prioritized by probability of success. As a result of the consulting effort, an acquisition strategy was determined as the most effective mode for expansion.


The most attractive entry markets were identified, thereby minimizing the overall risk of the venture. The resources were focused and the acquisition program was launched with a local bank’s investment department.
